Last September

Eh is it bad that I'm putting up photos from last September?! It was only... 5 months ago.... It's not really my fault that time flies you know... I'm sharing these finally because I always take pictures and never put anything up (I hate facebook) and my girlfriends always grumble. These are from Chiang's birthday dinner at Stammisch the swiss/german restaurant in Sixth Avenue, and also from Lysia and Ratri's birthday dinner at Cacio E Pepe in Upper Bukit Timah.

Since when I had such bimbotic friends I do not know. The best is still Candice's Rilakkuma blinged out iphone case. Win.

My pretty birthday girls with the lovely dessert and candles prepared by the great staff at the trattoria! Food at Cacio E Pepe is seriously legit. Can't wait to go back again and have some amazing pasta om nom! Really loved everything (being girls we ordered everything and shared it all, and we all decided that everything was superb).

Hehehhe love the things you can find at party shops! One little two little three little indians! The pork knuckle here was soooo goooooddd and huge!! Super value for money we had two portions for 10 girls along with some other small dishes and we couldn't even finish it, Max doggy-bagged the remainder home! Omg now getting super hungry thinking of how delish everything was.

Ok the next post will be in 5 months time! (Just kidding......)

Dean & Deluca come to Singapore

Yeah yeah old news. Blogging is good for insomniacs. I have started uploading photos onto my comp as my memory card is running out of space. And damn pancakes look good in pictures. I think half the reason why they are as popular as they are is because they look pretty! Stopped by Dean & Deluca in Singapore at Orchard Central (which coincidentally is one of the shittier malls in Singapore, but slowly getting better) last year (yes, LAST YEAR!) and I haven't been back since because it was a bad experience. They messed up my orders, gave me a waffle instead of my french toast! When it was finally replaced, to my horror the french toast had bananas in them. I hate bananas. I guess it's just not my thing, not really your fault D&D. The hefty price tag for each dish didn't help matters. But they sure do look pretty.  (Also, additional bonus photos of my favourites from Dawn Ng's exhibition more of which you can see here)

Everything you ever wanted is right here.

almost Shangri-La

“People make mistakes in life through believing too much, but they have a damned dull time if they believe too little.”

I've never actually read Lost Horizon by James Hilton, (yes yes what kind of literature enthusiast am I??), but the concept of Shangri-La extends to me nevertheless. Any sort of utopia draws people in, capturing the attention with a fountain of youth sort of vigor. Thought I'd update this cobwebbed site with some photos from last year's trip to China with my parents to Lijiang, which is the base for many explorers keen to venture out to Tibet and the famed Shangri-La. Truly felt like another dimension, lost in the gap of time. Minus the Maccas/KFC/Pizza hut we spied in the touristy "Old Town".

Feast your eyes.

Obligatory family shot. (Yes I have green hair here! Was supposed to be a bright turquoise but alas asian hair, it was not meant to be)

Some photos of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain (or also known as 玉龙雪山), views from the Black Dragon Pool, all of which are AAAAA classified scenic areas as declared by the China National tourism administration. It is truly a sight to behold. Saw lots of temples with mixed Tibetan heritage, since Lijiang is so close to Tibet, and also home to the Naxi tribal people. They have their own hieroglyphic language (see McDonalds for reference), and are deeply rooted in culture and heritage. Requisite jumpshot in front of AAAAA scenic area of course, and of food (mushroom hotpot) that gave us all indisgestion. Not to forget ink paintings done by an artist using only his fingers, and old men sitting in even older Old Town with hawks for hire.

More photos soon xx
